Merry Xscams

This post will coverage a veritable barrage of bad news and warnings - yeah, Merry Christmas indeed.
Firstly, let me warn you that this season of good will is like a smorgasbord for scammers.
People are feeling kinder, more tolerant, receiving packages by mail and expecting communications from people they haven't heard from in a while.
This is the perfect storm of vulnerability and it is very tricky to navigate.
I won't bang on about it too much.
Put simply; be skeptical, more so than usual, and when in doubt ask someone who knows (not Doris down the street who just thinks she knows).
Read more about it here: https://mailchi.mp/accc.gov.au/scamwatch-radar-alert-watch-out-for-holiday-season-scams
Secondly, yet another data breach for Facebook sees millions and millions of users private data end up, well, not so private.
As you will find I have said often, if you don't want it public, just never, NEVER put it anywhere on the web.
Sooner or later these kinds of breaches affect every service.
I recently deleted my Facebook account, it is a long story, and I recommend you do too. Here's how: https://www.trustedreviews.com/news/how-to-delete-facebook-account-2950145
To see if you have been affected by a data breach, go here and follow the instructions: https://haveibeenpwned.com/
Thirdly, and lastly, the latest Hoax Slayer update includes a swag on lovely new threats, fun stuff and hoaxes.
I suggest you read it and subscribe to stay informed and ready for when, not if, one of these comes your way...
Stay safe, have fun.
David
